Cerys has had baby no 2 :-D

Much thanks to Anthony for posting this on the Yahoo group.

Cerys gives birth to baby boy Jul 13 2005

Cerys Matthews has given birth to a son whom she plans to name Jones.

Cerys and her husband Seth aren't yet sure whether Jones will be the first or middle name of their new son, who was born on Sunday, weighing six pounds, seven ounces.

Chuffed dad Seth Riddle explained, 'We're still sort of undecided. I know Jones is going to be in there somewhere but we are not sure where and how the place will be.'

And the music producer revealed that while Jones is the archetypal Welsh name - there are two other reasons why it's so suitable.

Cerys's labour pains started on Saturday night while they were on their way to a Tom Jones concert so they turned home and went to see Kelly Jones at a Stereophonics gig which was closer to their Nashville home, instead.

Seth explained, 'The baby was due on Saturday but we knew Tom Jones was playing on Saturday night nearby, we checked with the midwife and she said it would be okay to go.

'We boarded up the car with everything, a couple of friends and our two-year-old daughter Glenys Pearl, but we came back because the twinges had started.

'We knew the Stereophonics were playing closer to home and so we went there for the first half of that show before we settled down to get this baby out.'

Seth said Tom Jones has called to congratulate the couple and Seth said he'd told Kelly and co about the birth.

He added that he thought the new arrival, who was born at their Nashville home, looked like Cerys and that his big sister, Glenys Pearl y-Felin was already his biggest fan.

'Glenys Pearl is absolutely over the moon. We showed her the baby just after he was born at home and her face lit up. She's going to be a very good sister. When she woke up this morning, the first thing she said was, 'Baby!'.'

Tired, but happy, mum Cerys, 36, said, 'I'm doing very well. I feel fine.

'It's just pretty amazing.

'I've had a surreal bit of Wales here as the weather changed - it became stormy, then with Tom Jones and the Phonics being here as well, it's felt a bit like blustery old Pembrokeshire. And Seth cooked me Yorkshire pudding and steak last night - which is my favourite and also reminded me of home in Wales.'

Cerys's parents Philip and Pauline were due to arrive last night to see their new grandson and the former Catatonia lead singer said she was looking forward to introducing her son to Wales.

'I think we'll come to Wales around Christmas time.

'It's amazing that I got pregnant with Glenys Pearl when I was in the middle of recording my Cock-a-hoop album and the same happened this time - with me in the middle of an album.

'We're very happy.'

And what did the new big sister Glenys Pearl y-Felin have to say for herself? Two things - 'Baby.' and 'Nappy.'

Ha ha, I love the fact she was in labour and still went to the beginning of a Stereophonics gig!

Much congrats to Cerys and Seth.

I'm loving Glenys's 2p worth :)

And my cousin's wife once went to a birthday meal whilst in labour on the grounds that the hopsital was only 2 minutes walk away from the restaurant. Then her waters broke and she had to pay to replace the chair. I was amused.

He he, yeah me too. And at least it was 'nappy' and not 'diaper', what with her being in America and all. Cerys has trained her well!

*lol*

Mazeltov to Cerys. Jones is a bit stereotypically Welsh, though.
